Linkin Park Concert

As you may have noticed, Official Orange was idle Wednesday night, August 13th. I know. You're pissed. But, we have good reason. Jeff and I went with Steph and my dad to see Linkin Park in Bonner Springs. We left around 5:45. When we arrived, we were directed to parking by a man in an orange vest, followed by a guy mocking him in a black shirt. Then, we went to the gates to get in, and found we couldn't bring in our blankets (we had lawn seats and didn't want chiggers). I put my Pop-Tarts in my back pocket (they didn't check there) to make sure I was able to get in with them. I was starving and Smores Pop-Tarts once again proved to be my savior. We sat down, awaiting ASHES dIVIDE, the first band. While we waited, we were entertained by a billboard on-stage. You just texted what you wanted to say and it put it up on the billboard for thousands to see. As you can imagine it was flooded, so ours never got up. It was flooded with announcements regarding Twilight (the books) and roadies rocking. There was the occasional good one like "I own this billboard." Many Chuck Norris jokes. And the occasional stupid one like "Hiiiiiii." We found most of the people at the concert didn't know how to properly use each version of "your. (Your, You're.)" Jeff was quite angered by that. ASHES dIVIDE came on, but they really didn't have any catchy songs (in my opinion).

Then, another long waiting period, followed by Atreyu. Atreyu were pretty good. Quite angry though. Their singer was pissed. I don't know how he screams like that every night. He must go to one of the members of the band and be like "Hey, piss me off so I can sing." And then they say something like "I'm having an affair with your girlfriend." And then he goes and sings. Then, there was another VERY long wait, followed by the showstoppers, Linkin Park. They were amazing. I've waited 8 years to see them and it was totally worth it. They were just altogether great. There were some real drunk girls next to us and some very ugly goths in front of us. And then, when we got to the very front of the lawn seats, I looked back and there was a whole area right behind us totally empty. But, after that there were tons of people. I don't understand why they wouldn't scoot up. I wore deodorant! Anyways, after several encores, the amazing show (which I knew every word too) came to an end. I loved every minute of it. Then, on the way out of the packed parking lot, Jeff played the "Make Awkward Eye Contact With People In Other Cars Game." He won. We got home around 1:30 on a school night... Needless to say, I was quite tired at drum line the next morning, as I'm sure he was too.

If you want to check out Linkin Park, Elijah recommends "One Step Closer," which can be found here.
